I was sent an email by one of the editors of the IEEE potentials magazine. They are looking for a student to write an opinion column article. Let me know if you are interested and/or would like to see a sample article. Also, look for an article about the Boise State Branch in an upcoming potentials magazine!
His email:
I was wondering if one member of your SB might be interested in a current opportunity that is open. We've been running a new opinion column called "The way I see it," where students and engineering professionals comment on a hot topic in the engineering field. We're currently looking for a student to contribute their opinion concerning this question: "Should engineering education have more of a practical focus, more of a theoretical focus, or remain as it is?" Is there a member of your branch that would like to write an opinion column on this subject? Here are the details:

1. The article should be between 750-900 words.
2. The tone of the article should be very informal. It's a personal opinion - you should not feel like you have to conform to popular opinion or sound politically correct. I want to hear your thoughts. Any ideas on the subject that might spark discussion would be welcome.
3. We'll need you to provide a hi-resolution image of yourself to go along with the article.
4. You should include a short bio (2-4 sentences about yourself), which should be added to the end of the article.
